OK, I have written before that I think Johnny Depp is cool, and one of the only grounded people in the movie business, but this is still really cool and surprising.

Just when you think that Britney Spears is the poster child for all celebrety activity, Somone goes off and does something really cvool. Without a press release.

Johnny Depp secretly visited Great Ormond Street Hospital yesterday to donate $2 million of his own money to thank staff for saving his daughter's life. He arrived unexpectedly at the London children's hospital where eight-year-old Lily-Rose was treated last year when her kidneys failed. Last week he invited five Great Ormond Street doctors and nurses to the party for the London premiere of his film Sweeney Todd. And on November 29, unknown to the public, Depp spent four hours at the hospital telling bedtime stories to patients dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow after having his Pirates Of The Caribbean costume flown over from Los Angeles.

I don't feel bad about my daughter having a four foot high Captain Jack painted on her wall. Not at all.

Joey Bishop died today. So ends the famed Rat Pack. I was lucky enough to see Frank, Sammy, and Dean play in 1989 (I think) at the Seattle Center Coliseum, back when,

Great show. A bunch of old, drunken men, but hey, that's the way to go.

SO I picked up the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy DVD last week, and saw two references to the old BBC series in it. The initial reveal of the Guide itself is a complete lift from the BBC opening, and Marvin the robot (the BBC version) was in line on the vogon planet.

now, I chose to do a search on this and can't find anyone else mentioning it? What is up with that, doens't anyone else see these things?

Aside from that, I really enjoyed the movie. more later.
